Friday Night Drinks with Drell

The Casual Friday @ Modernist

Dj Drell Starts at 10pm

DJ Drell (Andral Hagos) born in Los Angeles Ca, the son of a Chinese Filipino immigrant and Latin jazz vibraphonist and percussionist. He loves sharing his happy energy through music. His influences range from Michael Jackson, Prince, Cal Tjader, J Dilla, Tribe Called Quest, Neil Armstrong and Local SF DJ Mark Farina and The Invisibl Skratch Piklz. His current mixes are House Infused East-Coast Hip-Hop and Funk Undertones with Melodic Riffs and Soulful Vocals.

Drell began mixing and scratching vinyl when he was 11 years old. While underage, confined to the Vinyl DJ booth, promoters had to sneak him in to play club sets as he was too young to move about. While in college at UCSB, with local DJ’s like Steve Aoki, he performed at Downtown clubs and Isla Vista, sharing his jazz influenced hip-hop, funk & house breaks throughout Santa Barbara.

Enjoy a casual night out with Great people, Creative drinks & Awesome vibes!

Whisky Business w/ Booker's Bourbon

The week is starting off strong with Whisky Business featuring

Booker’s Bourbon

Booker’s® Bourbon is a rare barrel-strength bourbon, bottled uncut and unfiltered*. But you obviously know a good bit about bourbon, because you don’t end up here by mistake. We don’t advertise. We don’t do social media. We just do bourbon.

We focus on the sweet spot. The center of the rackhouse where the temperature and humidity stars align to create the deepest and most intense flavors. Once it’s aged to perfection, which always varies, the liquid is bottled uncut and unfiltered*. We don’t add, we don’t water down, and we don’t apologize for it. For some people, it may be too much. But for true bourbon fans, it’s probably the best ever.

“Batch” “Backyard BBQ
2018-02
6yrs & 2 months
64.40%

“It’s named in tribute to my dad, Booker Noe, and his love for hosting good, old-fashioned cookouts in our backyard. That man sure knew how to throw a party — complete with delicious food, lively music and great bourbon, of course.'“ - Batch Story

Complimentary tasting from 6 - 8pm

Whiskey Business: Macallan's Edition No. 4

Welcome back Whisky Business!

The bottle this week is a repeat of 3 weeks ago.

Macallan Edition No. 4

The fourth release in the Edition Series, the Edition No. 4 was aged in a combination of seven different cask types. Take a sip, savor the finish that lasts for an age and carries a smattering of wood spice.

"The “Edition” series is a loose collection of bottles associated with two themes: no age statement and prices around $100. There are some cooked-up-in-marketing-meeting stories associated with every bottle, but all you really need to know is that when you see “Edition” and a number on a Macallan bottle, it’s going to be fairly priced and damn good. With No. 4, they’ve really hit the mark.

Sequels are rarely better than the originals, in part because they try and repeat the successes without being brave enough to push things in a new direction. But with Edition No. 4, Macallan has somehow gotten closer to the source material of what made most of us fall in love with their whisky in the first place."

Complimentary Tasting from 6pm - 8pm

About Dictador

"In the late 18th century, Severo Arango y Ferro arrived in Cartagena de Indias in Nueva Granada (present-day Colombia). He had plans to improve tax collection for Spain in the American Spanish colonies. His strong and powerful nature was quickly recognised and he was soon dubbed DICTADOR.

Then came the moment when he fell in love at first sight (and taste) – he discovered rum. His devotion and affection for the tropical elixir drove him to become a key trader of exotic sugar cane spirits, which at the time were considered a currency in the region.

Due to its geographical position, Colombia is one of the three largest sugar cane producers in the world, assuring both high quality and high quantity harvests. Cartagena and its countryside are famous for being the first areas for sugar cane production in South America. Third-generation rum producer and Master Blender, Hernan Parra, continues the family’s legacy and tradition."
