Little Background...
Originally March 5th started as a remembrance of Mexico being Victorious against the French in the Franco-Mexican War from 1861-1867. Cinco de Mayo isn't as popular of a holiday as it is in the states, but we can say that in the states it has become more of a celebration of culture / community / heritage.
